On December 23, 2017, the Asia-Pacific Getaway (APG) submarine cable, branch from Vietnam to Singapore, has crashed, negatively affecting internet capacity of VNPT and other network operators.

This is the second time this year the APG cable has crashed.

On the same day, the incident occurred on November 7 on the AAG sea cable has been overcome. The re-operation of AAG and SMW-3 helps Vietnamese network operators maintain the Internet connection, especially when the APG submarine cable crashes.

This incident affects about 10% of Internet traffic from Vietnam to international. VNPT-Net, a member of VNPT, is actively working with partners to find causes and make a detailed plan to address the issue as soon as possible.

Shortly after the sea cable optical cable incident, VNPT-Net organized the routing, prioritizing Internet traffic on other sea cables such as AAE-1, SMW-3 and CSC mainland international cable to ensure connection quality for customers.
